MEDPorts Association appoints new leadership

THE MEDPorts Association has announced that Pino Musolino, president of Port System Authority of Central Northern Tyrrhenian Sea - Port of Civitavecchi, has been named as the new president of the MEDPorts Association.
Additionally, through voting, Jordi Torrent, head of strategy of Port of Barcelona, has been elected as the new general secretariat.
Said Mr Musolino: "We are committed to strengthening the cooperation among the members and to expanding the number of members in the near future! Having an Association such as Medports represents a significant opportunity to grow and share best practices and to establish stronger cooperation among Mediterranean ports."
Said Mr Torrent: "Deepening the cooperation between the members of the association with the aim that the ports of the region can take advantage of the growth opportunities offered by the new Silk Road and face the challenges of climate change. In this sense, the forthcoming entry into force of the SECA zone in the Mediterranean is especially important."
MEDPorts has 23 members and the ports associated with MEDPorts represent 70 per cent of the port traffic in the Mediterranean.
