Seafarer loses leg in accident on boxship off Argentina

A CREWMAN aboard a container ship in Argentina has suffered a severe injury, resulting in the loss of his leg, reports Bangalore's MarineInsight.
The maritime authority of Argentina received notification of the incident on March 27 while the vessel was sailing in the Huergo channel after departing from Buenos Aires port.
The Filipino seaman was airlifted by helicopter from the Liberian-flagged ship, and it was reported that the crew member had lost their left leg in an accident.
The coast guard provided support for evacuation, and the individual was taken to Dr Juan Fernandez Acute General Hospital.
The ship moved to the La Plata anchorage after the incident.
The situation is being assessed, and efforts are being made to ensure the crew's safety and provide the necessary medical care.
