ACCORDING to authorities, a container containing US$15 million worth of gold and "other valuable items" was reported stolen from Pearson International Airport in Toronto, reports Fox News.
The theft occurred when a plane carrying the valuable cargo was unloaded at a location separate from the airport's passenger terminals.
"An aircraft arrived here at the airport in the early evening, was unloaded, and cargo transported from the aircraft to a holding facility," said Peel Regional Police Inspector Stephen Duivesteyn.
"Once at a holding facility, this high-value container was removed by illegal means. This cargo was reported missing to the Peel Regional Police a short time later, and an investigation has commenced," he said.
