CUSTOMS officers have seized about 119 kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine with an estimated market value of over HKD84 million in Hong Kong International Airport and at a warehouse at Kwai Chung last week.

Customs said officers on July 11 inspected a batch of air consignments, declared as carrying compressors, arriving in Hong Kong from Canada at an air cargo terminal in the airport and found around 82kg of suspected methamphetamine inside two compressors.

After a follow-up investigation, officers searched a warehouse in Kwai Chung on July 13 and seized another 37kg of suspected methamphetamine with a market value of about HKD26 million inside one compressor.

Three men, aged between 33 and 56, suspected to be connected with the case were arrested in Kwai Chung and at the airport on July 13 and 14.

An investigation is ongoing and those arrested have been released on bail, reports Hong Kong's The Standard.
