HONG Kong-based start-up Greater Bay Airlines has started direct flights between Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, operating two return flights a week to the city, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
This is the sixth destination for the fledging airline which was established in 2020 and launched its inaugural passenger flight in July last year. The airline also operates flights to Osaka and Tokyo in Japan, Taipei in Taiwan, Seoul in South Korea and Bangkok in Thailand.
The airline said business travellers will account for majority of passengers to Ho Chi Minh City, while tourists will make up the remainder.
The airline's next destination will be Manila, Philippines, and is expected to be launched next month, according to carrier's marketing and sale general manager, Gloria Slethaug, according to the South China Morning Post.
Flights to Beijing and Shanghai will be added next year.
