The union representing port employees in British Columbia says it has sent out a 72-hour strike declaration notice and that the members are all set to leave their jobs on Saturday.
The strike notice impacts over 7,000 terminal cargo loaders at ports of B.C.

Canada’s International Longshore and Warehouse Union (abbreviated ILWU) states that its members reportedly voted 99.24% in favour of the strike action against the B.C. Maritime Employers Association. This happened earlier in the month.
Contracting out, cost of living, and port automation are critical challenges in the dispute.
A statement from longshore workers highlights that the management continues demanding concessions.
The two sides had been in a cooling-off phase, but that got over on June 21, after the earlier contract ended on March 30.
