SHANGHAI Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS), a division of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), has successfully handed over the third and fourth environmentally conscious 7,000-TEU containerships to Singapore-based shipowner X-Press Feeders, reports Offshore Energy.
Named MH Pegasus and MH Perseus, the vessels were formally transferred to X-Press Feeders during a recent ceremony at SWS's shipyard in China. The ships were initially launched in May of this year.
These two containerships constitute the third and fourth units in a sequence of twelve 7,000-TEU vessels that X-Press Feeders has commissioned.
Distinguished by their environmentally friendly design, these new additions incorporate advanced technologies, including an optimized hull structure, measures for shock and noise reduction, low-energy primary engines, and high-efficiency propellers.
These features contribute to ensuring that the ships' Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) aligns with the stringent criteria set by the third phase of the index.
SWS highlighted that these vessels epitomize a fresh generation of medium-sized container ships that boast attributes such as sustainability, environmental consciousness, energy efficiency, and safety.
Both vessels are classified by ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) and are constructed to adhere to the regulations of the Singapore flag.
