Atlas takes delivery of second Boeing freighter for MSC Air Cargo

ATLAS Air has taken delivery of the second of four Boeing 777-200 freighters that it will operate on behalf of MSC Air Cargo.
The new airline's freighters are being operated by Atlas Air following a long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) agreement announced in September last year, reports London's Air Cargo News.
MSC Air Cargo's parent company, shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), said the airline is currently offering around-the-world service to airports including Mexico City (NLU), Indianapolis (IND), Liege (LGG), Seoul (ICN) and Xiamen (XMN).
"Building on the successful launch of MSC's Air Cargo Solution, we are very pleased to welcome this second 777 delivery as part of our long-term strategic partnership. We expect our remaining two 777 aircraft to be delivered in the fourth quarter," said Michael Steen, Atlas Air Worldwide chief executive.
Jannie Davel, senior vice president air cargo at MSC, said: "The delivery of our second MSC branded aircraft represents another strategic component towards our offering that further connects trade lanes for our customers. In partnership with Atlas Air, we have built a solid foundation on which to expand our air cargo solution."
Atlas Air took delivery of the first 777F in the ACMI deal in November. The following month saw MSC Air Cargo launch operations. The airline chose Liege Airport as its European hub.
