CHINA and Australia have agreed to boost relations by continuing or expanding engagement in a range of areas, including political dialogue, trade, energy and climate change, according to a joint statement, reports Caixin.
The announcement came as Australian Labor Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrapped up his four-day visit to Beijing, during which he met with China's top three leaders - Chinese President Xi Jinping, the late Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
"Both nations could grow the bilateral relationship and uphold their respective national interests if they navigated their differences wisely," the statement said.
The two sides agreed to resume a series of high-level talks, including an annual meeting between China's premier and Australia's prime minister, as well as other bilateral dialogues on foreign policy, economy, climate change and energy, the statement said.
