Pilot-free plane in California conducts flight over San Jose

A CALIFORNIA-BASED company recently announced a groundbreaking achievement in the aviation industry, successfully conducting the first-ever autonomous flight of a Cessna 208B Caravan with no pilot on board, reports Fox Business.
Reliable Robotics, specializing in aircraft automation systems, revealed that the historic flight occurred just outside San Jose on November 21.
During the autonomous flight, a remote pilot supervised the unmanned aircraft from Reliable's control center located 50 miles away.
This remarkable accomplishment represents a significant milestone in the company's ongoing efforts to introduce advanced safety-enhancing technologies to the US aviation market.
"This monumental aviation achievement is a great example of how AFWERX accelerates agile and affordable capability transitions for the world's greatest Air Force," said AFWERX director Elliott Leigh.
"This milestone accelerates dual-use un-crewed flight opportunities, increasing aviation safety and enabling us to bring a broad range of autonomous military capabilities into denied environments."
