TAKING a significant stride in digitizing its operations, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has become the first airline in Asia to adopt the DG AutoCheck Connect API, the latest feature of IATA's DG AutoCheck, reports Singapore's Payload Asia.

This newly introduced API is designed to streamline the transfer of data from DG AutoCheck into ANA's international cargo system.

DG AutoCheck, compliant with IATA regulations, serves as an electronic verification system for dangerous goods declarations.

It facilitates the conversion of declaration forms from shippers or air cargo agents into digital data.

ANA's adoption of this technology reflects its commitment to align with IATA's objective of digitising all paper-based information in air cargo transportation (via e-freight).

The goal is to achieve a standardised and efficient data exchange and processing system across the industry.

DG AutoCheck simplifies dangerous goods consignment operations and information registration, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual checks against declaration forms, regulation books, and paper checklists.

This move by ANA aims to enhance the security and reliability of air cargo transport through advanced digital solutions.

"Today it can take up to 100 minutes to get flight crew of freighter operations, detailed information on dangerous goods in the payload through NOTOC systems. With Connect API, this will be instantaneous," said ANA vice president Kenichi Wakiya.
