IN April, container shipments at Port Houston increased, while the ports of Corpus Christi, Texas, and New Orleans saw slight declines, reports New York's FreightWaves.

Port Houston saw a five per cent rise in container flows in April, handling 324,177 TEU, compared to the same month in 2023.

Year-to-date, Port Houston has managed 1.4 million TEU, marking an 18 per cent year-over-year increase.

"For the first quarter, container volumes are very strong through March," said Port Houston executive director Roger Guenther.

"For the first three months [of 2024], TEU are much stronger in both the import and export loaded containers."
