MANGO exporters are struggling with logistical challenges as freight costs have surged, reports the Times of India.
Exporters said air freight costs per kilogram have doubled, now exceeding the cost of the mangoes themselves.
Estimates from mango exporters show about 545 metric tonnes (MT) were exported from April 1 to June 18, lower than the 686 tonnes exported in 2023-24.
The Talala market yard in Gir Somnath district is a mango trading hub, supplying fruit across India and to Canada, Australia, Europe, the UK and the US.
Customs clearing agents noted that pallet shortages this season have also hampered exports.
