BOREALIS Maritime has sold the 12-year-old 3,600 TEU Chopin to Norway's Atlantica Shipping with brokers indicating a price of around US$24 million including an 18-month charter at $20,000 per day, reports Singapore's Splash 247.

Last month, Atlantica returned to the container shipping sector and three weeks ago the company was reported buying the 4,600 TRU Northern Power, since renamed Atlantica Power.

The 2010-built ship, now displayed prominently on Atlantica's homepage, is on charter to CMA CGM through to the summer of 2026.

In addition to the two boxships, Atlantica Shipping owns nine offshore vessels and two supramax bulkers.

Brokers are anticipating a busy final few months of the year when it comes to the second-hand boxship market.

"The demand from buyers, both operators and tramp owners alike, is not going anywhere in the near future and with liquidity fast drying up, we expect second-hand prices to remain elevated for the balance of 2024," commented Braemar in a recent report.
