SEASPAN Corporation, a major containership lessor, has placed an order for six 13,600 TEU fuel-efficient vessels with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, part of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), reports Rotterdam's Offshore Energy.

These ships, incorporating advanced eco-technologies such as desulfurization towers and energy-saving features, are designed to meet emission reduction targets.

The ships are expected to be delivered between 2026 and 2028.

In addition, Seaspan is preparing these vessels for future fuel modifications to ensure optimal energy consumption, speed, and environmental protection.

Earlier, Seaspan ordered 27 dual-fuel containerships as part of its fleet expansion.

These include methanol and LNG-powered vessels, underscoring the company's commitment to sustainability and long-term client relationships.
