IAG Cargo has approved SkyCell's temperature-controlled 1500X series containers for use across its network, expanding its Constant Climate cold chain service for pharmaceutical shipments, reports Singapore's Payload Asia.

The approval provides pharmaceutical customers with access to advanced packaging designed to maintain the integrity of temperature-sensitive cargo such as vaccines and biologics. The SkyCell 1500X series offers up to 270 hours of independent runtime, which can be extended when stored in cold rooms or reefers trucks.

Mr Jordan Kohlbeck, head of pharmaceutical at IAG Cargo, said the approval followed extensive internal collaboration. He noted the industry's need for reliable and sustainable solutions, adding that the SkyCell containers meet the highest standards for temperature-controlled packaging.

The containers are designed for environmental sustainability, with low volumetric weight that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 50 per cent per shipment. Their reusable and repairable design further limits environmental impact.

IAG Cargo operates across six continents, with major hubs in London, Madrid, Dublin and Barcelona, enabling global reach for its pharmaceutical logistics services.
