French logistics giant Geodis has launched a cross-border trucking service connecting South Africa to 10 neighbouring countries, aiming to streamline regional logistics and support trade, the company announced.
The new road transport service links South Africa to Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It is designed to offer fast and flexible cargo movement across the region.
Geodis has centred the service around its Johannesburg hub, which acts as a strategic gateway for distributing goods. The hub supports both full truckload and less-than-truckload shipments, with scalable capacity and tailored routing options.
"Cross-border logistics in Africa often comes with challenges. With this new service, we aim to offer our customers a seamless flow of cargo from origin to destination," said Managing Director Cobus Fourie.
The service reinforces Geodis' commitment to African markets and expands its footprint in the region. It is part of the company's broader strategy to enhance supply chain performance and support economic development.
Geodis operates in nearly 170 countries and employs 50,000 people. In 2024, the company generated EUR11.3 billion (US$12.9 billion) in revenue. Geodis is owned by the state-owed railway SNCF.
