Japan's Imabari Shipbuilding Group has delivered the 2,080-TEU container vessel Maersk Notodden from its main yard on September 9. The Panama-flagged ship is designed for refrigerated and hazardous cargo, report Melbourne Baird Marine.

The Maersk Notodden measures 171.9 metres in length and 32.2 metres in breadth, with a service speed of about 18 knots. It is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping and powered by a MAN 6S60ME-C10.6 engine.

The vessel is equipped to carry a high volume of refrigerated containers and hazardous materials in compliance with the international maritime dangerous goods Code. It also features three deck cranes for port operations lacking shore-based lifting gear.

Imabari Shipbuilding said the ship meets the latest energy efficiency design index standards. Its engine includes an exhaust gas recirculation system to reduce nitrogen oxides, while the generators use selective catalyst reduction technology.

Additional environmental features include a ballast water treatment system and a certified inventory of hazardous materials, aligning with international sustainability and safety regulations.
