Thai energy firm Bangchak Corp has yet to receive details on the country's expected sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) mandate, despite beginning production earlier this year, Reuters reported.
Gloyta Nathalang, Bangchak's senior executive vice president, told the APPEC conference in Singapore that the company is "in a limbo with some market agreements but no formal policy guidance.
Bangchak's SAF unit is currently in a test run phase and is expected to be fully operational by early 2026. It has capacity to produce 1 million litres (800 tonnes) per day and can switch to renewable diesel if needed.
Nathalang said the firm had anticipated a mandate by 2026, but with only months remaining, no policy has been issued. She noted ongoing disagreement between ministries over who should set the mandate.
Bangchak signed a supply deal with Shell Singapore's trading arm late last year, according to its company website.
