Greece's Minerva Marine has firmed up two additional feeder container ships at China's Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, bringing its confirmed newbuild tally to six vessels under its current programme, reported Singapore's Splash 247.

Led by Andreas Martinos, Minerva Marine initially ordered two ships each from Yangzijiang and Huanghai Shipbuilding. The broader programme includes options for two more units at each yard, potentially totalling eight vessels.

The newly confirmed ships are 1,800 TEU conventional-fuel vessels, with unit costs estimated between US$30 million and $33 million, according to Athens-based brokers. Deliveries are expected from late 2027 through 2028.

Minerva entered the container segment in 2022 with a feeder ship order at Yangzijiang. Since late 2024, it has expanded via the secondhand market, acquiring four boxships ranging from 1,780 to 2,430 TEU, based on S&P data.
