FedEx has launched a new 19,000 sq ft freight facility at East Midlands Airport to boost its UK and global logistics network, reports London's Air Cargo Week.
The purpose-built site operates independently from FedEx's parcel sorting operations and is designed to improve freight handling efficiency. It features recessed loading pits and multiple trailer docks to enhance safety and streamline processing.
The new facility strengthens FedEx's connectivity to the US, EU, APAC and other global markets. It also adds capacity to meet rising demand across key international trade lanes.
Steve Johnson, Managing Director of UK Air Operations, said the expansion builds on recent developments in Manchester and reflects FedEx's commitment to improving its UK infrastructure. He said the new site will help businesses in the East Midlands access global markets more efficiently.
FedEx operates three air hubs in the UK and has served the market since 1984. The company ships to 220 countries and territories, connects 2.5 million shippers with 200 million customers, and delivers 17 million packages daily.
