13,100-TEU Singapore ship collides with Chinese bulker

The Singapore-flagged 13,100-TEU Wan Hai A17, collided with Chinese flagged 8,000-dwt bulker Hai Li 5 off Guangzhou, resulting in the sinking of the latter, reports Saint Petersburg's Port News.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said the incident occurred at around 8mm. Singapore time. The Wan HaiI A17 remains stable, with no injuries among its 23 crew members and no pollution reported, according to Wan Hai Lines.
The Hai Li 5 reportedly sank following the collision. Chinese authorities have launched search and rescue operations, with two of the 15 crew members still missing.
The Wan Hai A17 is currently held in port to assist Chinese authorities with their investigation. The MPA is in contact with Wan Hai Lines and Chinese officials and will conduct its own inquiry.
Wan Hai Lines Ltd. is a Taiwan-based container shipping company founded in 1965. It operates one of the largest intra-Asia container networks and serves major global trade routes.
