Air China Cargo has announced plans to order up to 10 Airbus A350 Freighters in a deal worth US$4.65 billion at list prices, reports London's FlightGlobal

The commitment includes six firm orders and four options, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2031. The plan was disclosed in a filing to the Shenzen stock exchange and awaits shareholder approval at the carrier's annual general meeting November 14.

The airline said the order aligns with its development strategy and market demand, aiming to optimise fleet structure and ensure long-term operational stability. The freighters will support a mix of large and medium-sized capacity needs.

If confirmed, the order would provide a boost to the A350F programme, which saw cancellations or reductions from Air Lease and Air France-KLM earlier this year, totaling nine aircraft.

Airbus had 65 firm orders for the A350F as of September, including a 10-unit commitment from Saudi Arabian lessor Avilease announced at the Paris air show in June.

The first Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97-powered A350 freighter is expected to be delivered in the second half of 2027. A test aircraft is currently in final assembly in Toulouse.
