The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has pledged to modernise and strengthen the country's aviation sector, reports Manila's BusinessMirror.
CAAP director general Raul del Rosario reaffirmed the Authority's commitment during the Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program Commencement Ceremony in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. He said the initiatives align with directives from President Marcos and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.
Del Rosario stressed that CAAP will continue upgrading systems, enhancing regulations, and investing in training and technology to ensure airports, air navigation systems, and compliance standards meet international benchmarks.
He praised the perseverance of 20 cadets who completed the programme, telling them they are the "future guardians of our airspace" and that passenger confidence will depend on their professionalism and integrity.
Mr del Rosario also commended Cebu Pacific for pioneering the cadet programme, which provides vital opportunities for young Filipinos aspiring to become airline pilots.
CAAP's pledge highlights a strategic focus on modernisation and training, aimed at securing the Philippines' place in regional and global aviation while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
