The Airforwarders Association has welcomed the launch of the Miami Air Cargo Association and pledged to work with the new body to support freight forwarders at Miami International Airport, reports the American Journal of Transportation.

Brandon Fried, executive director of the AfA, told the launch event that collaboration would focus on tackling truck congestion, improving infrastructure efficiency and strengthening operational resilience.

Mr Fried said the Miami Air Cargo Association provides an important platform at one of the United States' busiest cargo gateways. He added that the AfA will press for solutions to address day-to-day operational needs.

The MACA has been established as a non-profit organisation with bylaws and a Board of Directors. It aims to strengthen engagement across the local cargo community.

Warren Jones, president of the MACA, said the new group gives the industry a focused platform to connect, collaborate and give back. He welcomed the AfA's willingness to partner on issues affecting daily operations at Miami International Airport.

The MACA plans five industry lunches in 2026, a fall golf outing, a year-end holiday event, charitable initiatives and a scholarship programme for members.

Board members include Mr Jones of Alliance Ground International, Richard Garcia of Sterling Transportation, Patrizia Harmeier of Swissport, Gizelle Sarmento of Cargo Solutions Network, Dimitrios Nares of Miami-Dade Aviation Department and Christine Richards, Cargo Consultant.
