    Singapore Changi Airport posts strong numbers

    Singapore Changi Airport handled 2.08 million tonnes of freight in 2025, a 4.5 per cent increase year on year, driven by growth in exports, imports and transshipments, reported London's Air Cargo Week.


    Demand was fuelled by semiconductors, AI-related supply chains, electric vehicles and cleantech. Expanded freighter services strengthened connectivity with China, the United States and Europe, reinforcing Changi's role as a leading Asia-Pacific hub entering 2026.

    Growth was recorded across all traffic categories, supported by front-loaded activity in the first three quarters and sustained demand from high-value sectors. Semiconductor flows were a major contributor to throughput.

    China remained Changi's largest air cargo market, followed by the United States, Australia, Hong Kong and India. The fastest-growing markets were China, the United States and Taiwan, underscoring Changi's importance as a consolidation and redistribution hub linking Asia with North America and Europe.

    Freighter connectivity expanded during the year. JD Airlines launched thrice-weekly Shenzhen-Singapore services, while Turkish Cargo reinstated weekly Istanbul - Ho Chi Minh City -Singapore flights. FedEx Express added non-stop freighter services to Anchorage, boosting long-haul capacity on the Singapore-United States lane.
