HONG Kong International Airport (HKIA) saw significant growth in cargo volumes during November 2017 as throughput went up by 6.9 per cent year on year to 466,000 tonnes.
Transshipments and exports were the main drivers of growth in cargo throughput in November at the world's number one airfreight hub in 2016. Compared to the same month last year, transshipments registered 10 per cent year-on-year growth, and exports recorded an 8 per cent increase.
Among the key trading regions, traffic to/from North America, India and Europe increased most significantly, said an airport spokesperson.
Over the first 11 months of 2017, HKIA's cargo throughput soared 9.6 per cent from the same period in 2016 to 4.48 million tonnes. On a rolling 12-month basis, HKIA saw cargo throughput climbed 9.7 per cent to 4.91 million tonnes, according to London's Air Cargo News.
