This year, C.H. Robinson celebrates two decades in the Chilean market. During the first 15 years, the company focused on building logistics solutions for one of Chile’s main industries, agribusiness. Focusing on the local needs right away showed how C.H. Robinson was dedicated to meeting the specific needs of Chilean’s businesses and through that has become a trusted source and logistics expert not just in agribusiness but across industries, including mining, retail, industrial, and much more."
“We take all the tools, knowledge, scale, and advantages of the company and expand our offer to more clients, offering logistics services for all needs. Due to our diversification, we have observed continuous growth in the Chilean market, which we also achieved thanks to our operating systems and our main asset, which are our people,” comments Javier Hermosilla, Country Manager of C.H. Robinson Chile, who came to the company seven years ago to take on the challenge of growth of the country.
According to Armstrong & Associate, INC C.H. Robinson is among the top six third-party logistics (3PL) providers in Chile. The Chilean team quickly adapted to the national market, identifying its needs and delivering world-class service to its clients."
“In Chile, there is great growth potential. Thanks to our industry-leading platform and global services, they simplify the complex logistics ecosystem, providing supply chain savings, reliability, and visibility in our client's business. In this way we make our experience, data, and scale available to the market”, says Rodrigo Peralta, Sales Manager in Chile.
Part of the company’s success is based on its own technology and operating systems, developed by C.H. Robinson for its clients, such as Navisphere® and also the Account Manager program. This ensures adaptability to needs, problem solving, and identification of opportunities for growth and improvements.
“In general, the operating systems in 3PLs are very rigid, due to the fact that it is outsourced technology. We, by having an operating system created by us, can adapt to the needs of each client,” comments Lucía Celi, Transport Manager in Chile.
Regarding the Account Manager program, Javier Hermosilla explains: “It is a department focused on the maintenance and development of accounts. When we begin to provide services to a new client, we assign an executive in charge of ensuring that their expectations are met and that, together, they look for opportunities for continuous improvement based on management indicators to obtain better results. This provides added value to our clients and, at the same time, allows us to develop a strong bond with our customers.”
Fundamental pillars of C.H. Robinson
C.H. Robinson Chile has the ability to advise and serve companies regardless of their size or type of industry, which is a reflection of the company's values and culture that is based on four fundamental pillars: Constantly evolve; Deliver excellence; Grow together; and Embrace integrity.
“Regardless of size, we look for companies that have a partnership mentality, with whom we can work together for a long time,” adds Peralta.
High retention rate
The C.H. Robinson Chile team highlights that, unlike what is seen in the industry, its level of customer turnover is very low thanks to the high quality and personalization of the service. The same happens with employees, who usually have a long career with the company.
“We have a high level of retention in our clients, and the same goes for our employees, who are the company's main assets. That speaks to the great human team we have built here,” says Hermosilla.
In the last seven years, the team in Chile has doubled the number of employees, all of them have vast experience in the field but also different life experiences.
“This diversity enriches our experience with clients and provides a pleasant atmosphere within C.H. Robinson. At C.H. Robinson, the employees, clients, and suppliers make up a big family,” concludes the Country Manager.
“Post-pandemic, we began a hybrid work modality, which has allowed us to resume that human warmth that comes from seeing each other face to face, with each other, with our clients and our suppliers. The basis of a good service focuses on the employees whom we keep motivated by always giving them opportunities for growth,” says the Trucking Manager.
C.H. Robinson is aware of the new challenges facing the industry, but they have all the tools to take advantage of the opportunities and continue growing in the Chilean market. Additionally, they continue to strengthen their relationship with clients, not only executing their needs but also advising and proposing strategies to improve their supply chains.
